Students at Kleine Brogel Elementary School turned pages into pies after logging more than 14,000 minutes of reading during a three-week Read-A-Thon challenge.

The schoolwide event encouraged students to develop a love for reading while raising funds for new classroom equipment, field trips and additional books. Families and friends supported the effort with generous donations, helping the school reach its fundraising goals.

Top readers and fundraisers earned a sweet reward — the chance to throw a pie at their teachers. Staff members volunteered as targets and were among the most popular choices.

“It was totally worth it,” Pyatt said. “Our students worked hard, and this was a fun way to celebrate their accomplishments.”

Parents and community members gathered to join in the celebration, cheering on students and sharing in the laughter as pies flew across the school’s courtyard. Some students even ended up with whipped cream on their own faces.

The Read-A-Thon has become a beloved tradition at Kleine Brogel Elementary, blending fun incentives with meaningful academic goals.

With thousands of pages read and dozens of pies tossed, school officials said this year’s event was a smashing success.
